ABSTRACT
STIs in adolescents are rising due to the early initiation of sexual relationships and the ignorance in regards to these diseases. Based on the knowledge and experience we performed a study in order to explore knowledge, attitudes and practices towards HIV / AIDS; the age at the beginning of sexual intercourse; condom use and regular sex practices to develop an intervention strategy through the application of a primary prevention program on HIV/AIDS. It was carried out a prospective longitudinal study with 13 -15 year-old adolescents at "Paquito Rosales Benitez" Junior High School in Manzanillo, the universe consisted of 230 students, within the age range of 13- 15 years, and it was taken the intentional sample of 90 students. To collect the information it was applied the survey. 80% of the samples were sexually active, most of them started between 14 and 15 years, 82.2% maintained sexual practices and 13.3% occasional ones, 62.2% confirmed that they did not use condoms. Considering the behavior of adolescents in relation to their insufficient knowledge and risk sexual behavior it was possible to create an educational program to prevent HIV/AIDS.REFERENCES
