ABSTRACT
Introduction: Dengue is an infectious viral disease transmitted by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito; it is caused by any of the four known serotypes of the dengue virus. Objective: to identify the influence of some selected risk factors in outbreaks of Aedes aegypti in the polyclinic "René Vallejo Ortiz" in Bayamo during the year 2014.
Method: it was carried out a descriptive, analytical, case-control study with a case-control relation of 1:2. The universe of work was formed by 861 confirmed cases of dengue. To calculate the sample size it was used the Epidat 3.1 software, we considered a confidence level of 95%; remaining 254 cases and 508 controls.
Results: the risk factors for the Aedes aegypti outbreaks were the inadequate water deposits, previous outbreaks of the vector, cycles of solid waste collection with more than 3 days; presence of pouring graves, and discard the Abate from water deposits. Improperly sanitized ditches and failure to perform Autofocus house classified as indifferent factors in outbreaks of Aedes aegypti.
Conclusions: the influence of the environment, climate and health standards, mainly in urban areas, as well as some social and economic factors are considered styles of unhealthy life and are risk factors for the Aedes aegypti outbreaks.
