ABSTRACT
Introduction: in the case of sanitary or epidemic disasters, all countries are exposed, our country has faced numerous situations of epidemics, epizootics and plagues in important areas of agriculture, which has helped to achieve a great experience in these fields. For this reason, all state entities must be prepared to deal with such events, primarily the food producers. Objective: to identify the health factors and the risk level that may favor the emergence or development of a public health disaster.
Method: it was performed a descriptive and retrospective study of the sanitary situation presented in the Meat Combined Jorge Raul Chacon in Manzanillo, Granma province, in the year 2015, to identify its possible investigation in a health disaster. The procedures used in the research were based on the established methodologies for the study of health disasters by the National State of the Civil Defense of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of Public Health.
Results: the level of danger for a health disaster is medium, having a high vulnerability and the expected level of risk is medium too, requiring corrective actions to be planned and executed.
Conclusions: hygienic sanitation problems of the entity may favor the danger of health disasters, coinciding with the national and international criteria. Not performing the plans with mediate actions to reduce vulnerability will provoke a health disaster in this unit, in the internal and external health factors.
