Life quality of elderly adults in a doctor’s office in Jaruco

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the study of life quality constitutes a main aspect for facing the current aging of the population because it is not only required to live more years but also, to keep the physical, psychological and social well-being of elderly adults.Objective: To characterize the behavior of the life quality of elderly adults belonging to Doctor’s Office # 9 of the Popular Council in Jaruco, Mayabeque province.
Method: a descriptive, transversal study with quantitative approach was carried out from September, 2013 to March, 2014. The sample was constituted by 76 elders, of both sexes, in ages between 60 and 80 years old. The MGH Life Quality scale was applied. For the statistical analysis, χ2 test and the multiple comparison docima were used.
Results: life quality was most affected in the male elderly adults between 70-74 years old without spouse, with Primary scholarship, and in those who were not reinserted to work.
Conclusions: elders perceive significant deterioration of their life quality evaluating it between the levels medium and low.
