ABSTRACT
Introduction: The little male assistance to family planning (FP) is one of the recognized limitations of this area. Increasing men participation is registered in many care programs for in PF purpose; but actions designed to achieve them sometimes do not respond to men needs and tend to meet those identified mainly for women. Objective: Identify men needs and satisfaction from perceptions those attending the Family Planning Service.
Method: A descriptive study of cross section was conducted in the Family Planning Service at Antonio Maceo Polyclinic in Cerro municipality. Questionnaire and group discussion: men who attended this service during 2014 participated. Two techniques for obtaining information were used: questionnaire and group discussion.
Results: Insufficient identification of men this service turn into poor attendance. This situation can be explained from the representations handled in the Cuban society about men sexuality, and issues related to their sexual and reproductive health. Such representations are reinforced in part on the service itself.
Conclusions: Men needs are not met in the Family Planning Consultation studied, according to the perceptions of men users. It is just about the only identifiable need from the governing program: information and sexual education for men.
