ABSTRACT
Introduction: Neurocysticercosis is still
a common problem in countries living the
epidemiological transition towards development.
Case report: Herein is presented the case of
a 66-year-old Mexican male, with long-standing
diabetes, under hemodialysis, with persistent
headache associated with nausea and fatigue,
without response to conventional analgesics,
cranial tomography exhibited findings suggestive
of cysticerci, which is confirmed by immunological
tests. The patient was treated with praziquantel
and albendazol for 2 weeks, showing complete
response and remission of symptoms.
Conclusion: Neurocysticercosis should be
suspected in endemic countries, especially in
immunocompromised individuals.
