ABSTRACT
Ankle sprain is one of the most frequent injuries in sports and it ranks first in volleyball. In sports training, it is of great importance to reincorporate the athlete to the sporting gesture and shorten the time of recovery. This protocol proposes a treatment with an acute therapeutic stimulation with tension loads over the injured ligament to force fibroblast proliferation and recover the joint’s functionality. On the national volleyball team, we follow this treatment protocol and have obtained good results in recovery and early reincorporation, as well as an increase in the functional response of the joint and a faster recovery in case of a new injury over the same ligament. Proprioceptive training protocols are the cornerstone for strengthening the ankle’s joint and for prevention of this pathology in sports and on the volleyball national teams of Mexico.
