ABSTRACT
Hydrocolpos is originated by an accumulation of vaginal and cervical secretions secondary to an obstruction in the female genitourinary tract. The most common cause is an imperforated hymen, a membrane that is reabsorbed during the embryologic period. The prevalence reported is of 0.1% in full-term newborns. The most frequent clinical presentation is an abdominal mass that sometimes can be associated with congenital urogenital malformations. In this paper, we present the case of a full-term newborn with hydrocolpos secondary to imperforate hymen.
