ABSTRACT
Introduction: The determination of the numbers and percentages of lymphocyte subpopulations its fundamental for the diagnosis, therapeutics and classification of AIDS patients, the methodological and instrumental advances in the last years has been outstanding, however its necessary obtain the specific reference values for the studied populations.
Objectives: To establish the specific reference values of lymphocyte subpopulations in healthy adults in our population, and the effect derived from the use of different flow cytometer equipment, the influence of different periods of study times, and the specific gender.
Material and methods: We made a statistical analysis review about the values obtained in the determination of specific reference values of lymphocyte subpopulations in 141 healthy adults of both sexes, using two different flow cytometers techniques; analogical and digital, and in three different periods of time 2003, 2009, 2015.
Results: We found statistical significant differences in the results of specific reference values of the lymphocyte subpopulations between males and females, 43% of the analyzed parameters, and in the results of the years 2003, 2009 and 2015.We do not find differences in the results using an analogical or digital flow cytometer.
Conclusions: Based in the results obtained in this study, we think that it’s mandatory that all clinical laboratories that determined lymphocyte subpopulations must establish periodically, his reference values for his own particular population, and by specific gender.
