ABSTRACT
In Mexico, poisonous arthropods accidents caused by scorpions of the genus
Centruroides and spiders of the genera
Loxosceles and
Latrodectus, constitute
an important problem of public health, since the reported rates account for more
than 200,000 accidents per year, of scorpion bites and about 3,000 to 5,000 due
to spiders.
The effective therapy should be initiated as soon as possible, in order to avoid
fatal outcomes. At present the election treatment consist in the administration
of fabotherapics, compounds that use the immunoglobulin G F(ab’) segment, which
neutralizes the action of the poisons and lack of inconvenient reactions of
traditional serotherapy.
