ABSTRACT

Pregnancy in adolescents is a health worldwide problem for its complications and social repercussions for the mother and her baby, and that is the reason why we propose to determine the risk perception of pregnancy in ninth graders that belong to the school ¨Elias Saldivar Alvarez¨ in Media Luna, during the period of June- December of 2014. It was performed a quantitative, descriptive and transversal study in ninth graders (because pregnancy is more frequent in this age group) and it was applied a simple sample at random with 25 students that fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There were applied theorical and empirical methods and techniques of descriptive statistics. It was developed the description and operationalization of the Risk perception variable of pregnancy in adolescents; the evaluation was performed through these indicators: high risk, medium risk and low risk. There were obtained the following results: 58% of the surveyed adolescents had a low severity degree of pregnancy. 18 of them were not supceptible or vulnerable to pregnancy, which represented 72%. The medium level of knowledge prevailed in the studied population, represented by 12 adolescents, and only 18 % of the sample reached the highest level. The low risk perception of pregnancy in adolescents prevailed in 14 of them, representing 56% of the group.
