Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) related liver disease
affects millions of patients worldwide, and acute decompensation
superimposed on cirrhosis, now
termed acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) has a
high short-term mortality, and acute reactivation of
CHB frequently sets off ACLF. Effective viral suppression
and liver transplantation are the mainstays
of management.
