ABSTRACT
Pyoderma gangrenosum is a rare inflammatory cutaneous disease, chronic and of unknown pathogenesis, belonging
to the neutrophilic dermatoses spectrum. Frequently destructive, it is distinguished by a nodule or pustule which breaks
and forms an ulcer, rapidly augmenting its dimensions and frequently associated with pain. Lesions may appear
isolated or associated with other systemic disorder. It has been associated up to 70% with systemic diseases.
The frequency and incidence of PG in Mexico are unknown, but it has been estimated 3-10 patients out of every
million of inhabitants a year. It happens at any age, but most frequently between the 20 and 50 years, predominately in
females. We present a case of a patient with pyoderma gangrenosum.
