ABSTRACT
Introduction: Luedkng cancer is day-by-day most frequent; one of the problems is the detection and its stage; with high costs for the patient and the institution. Material and methods: We review 100 x-ray files of patients with the diagnosis of lung cancer, between 2000-2002, with the purpose to evaluate the radiologic presentation on plain film of lung cancer, by using the direct and indirect signs of pulmonary cancer. These films were evaluated by 3 radiologist without knowing their specific histology. The results were compared with the specific diagnosis of pathology. Discussion and results: We found that the most frequent tumor was adenocarcinoma 49%, followed by epidermoide 19%, small cells 13 patients and metastasis in 11. The final result is that patients with lung cancer can be evaluated in its advanced staging by plain films. This represents a much lower cost for the Institute.REFERENCES
