ABSTRACT
The vestibular schwannoma (VS) is a benign tumor on the eighth cranial nerve, it can occur spontaneously or in the context of neurofibromatosis type 1 and 2. It represents about 60-90% of cerebellopontine angle tumors and 6-10% of intracranial expansive processes. The clinical manifestations are highly diverse and are reflecting the affectation of structures in the internal auditory canal and the cerebellopontine angle. The gold standard for its identification is magnetic resonance imaging of the skull. However, to study in a qualitative and quantitative way the auditory and vestibular function is the first formal step in the detection of this pathology. We present the detection and important aspects in a case of right unilateral vestibular schwannoma with hearing and vestibular symptoms.
