ABSTRACT
Introduction: the assessment of individual performance is an important working instrument for the alignment of management decisions and actions of workers in the service is performed as health professionals.Objective: to diagnose the individual performance assessment of the doctor during his work process, this allows to find the main deficiencies in the application of this tool for decision making of management, from the latest international trends.
Methods: a study was conducted at four medical processes (Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, General Medicine and Otolaryngology) in Holguin municipality, where surveys were applied: assessment of objectives, satisfaction with the evaluation and resource tenure as well as interviews and document review of current scientific literature on the subject.
Results: 85% satisfaction regarding the evaluation of individual performance was obtained, proper measurement of work objectives in the areas appreciated, although it must be emphasized in correspondence with the indicators of the processes and organization; in these positions the skills and the feedback effect of this tool to remove the main dissatisfaction of doctors in their work should be taken into consideration.
Conclusions: it is important the use of performance evaluation according to international trends, and improved systemic approach in which the powers declared for medical staff and their correspondence with the indicators for each process values, those of the organization, in order to influence on inhibiting factors of good service, job satisfaction as improving the knowledge.
