ABSTRACT
A controlled clinical-therapeutic trial (in phase II B) including 48 patients with adult's periodontitis who went to the Periodontal Service in the Stomatology Department from "Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso" teaching General Hospital in Santiago de Cuba was carried out from January to May, 2014, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the Oleozon
® through oral administration in them. For this aim, 2 groups of 24 members each (selected in a random way) were formed: the first one was the study group which received subgingival Oleozon
®, and the other was the control group which was treated in a conventional way with subgingival chlrohexidine irrigations. Both groups were evaluated at the first and eighth days of initiating treatment, to determine the pockets depth, the bleeding index and the recovery of the normal clinical characteristics of the gum. The results were statistically validated by means of the test of Χ
2, with 95% of confidence, and finally it could be corroborated that Oleozon
® is effective as non-surgical alternative treatment in periodontitis.
