Nearly one quarter of the global burden of disease stems from neurological, psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders due to malformations or dysfunctions of the central nervous system. Such neuropsychiatric conditions influence quality of life worldwide, causing one third of years lost due to disability (YDL).
