Adolfo López Mateos with the diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency and at any clinical stage of the disease (CEAP 0-6) and that as part of their overall treatment include the use of compression stocking. Measuring attachment treatment it is performed by applying a generic questionnaire and Measuring Quality of Life questionnaire was conducted with the specific CIVIQ-20 venous insufficiency validated in Latino population. Once the data collected statistical analysis was done.
Results. A total of 150 patients completed the study. The average age of the patients was 59.4 years. 111 women (74%) and 39 men (26%). Twenty-eight patients where clinical stage CEAP 1, 32 in C2, 34 in C3, 35 in C4, 13 in C5, and 8 in C6. The average duration of use of the compression stocking was 1.5 years. The 21.3% of patients reported good adherence to the compression stocking, 12% moderate adherence and 66.6% poor adherence The average rating of quality of life for CIVIQ-20 in the group of poor adherence was 65; in the group of moderate attachment 67 and in the group of good attachment 82 (0: worse quality of life, 100: better quality of life). Showing a positive correlation between adherence to the best compression stockings and improved quality of life in the domains of pain, psychological, physical, social and overall the CIVIQ-20 survey with a significant p of ‹ 0.0001 between groups. In multivariate analyzes there was no difference between groups in age, sex, nutritional status and clinical stage (p ‹ 0.98).
Conclusion. All patients with chronic venous insufficiency show a deterioration in their quality of life with significant psychological, physical and social impact. Best attachment compression stockings is positively correlated with a significant improvement in overall quality of life in patients with chronic venous insufficiency. In level of attachment to the compression stocking in our population it is low (21.3%), which forces us to created strategies for use step unification including patient education.
