ABSTRACT
Introduction: the cattle in the world occupies a row of vital importance for the nutrition of humankind and a sector of the economy for several countries. One of the greatest economic losses in cattle is caused by parasites, highlighting those caused by ticks of the genus Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus. Objective: to evaluate the in vitro effect of crude extracts of feverfew (Ambrosia cumanenses) and Snuff (Nicotiana tabacum) on reproductive efficiency engorged tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus in concentration (100%-0%), (50%-50%) and (25%-75%) and (0-100) (control) extract/water.
Methods: the leaves of each plant were subjected to drying, which was used for the preparation of the hydroalcoholic extract, obtained through an exhaust essence (distillation). The trials were in vitro, by adult immersion technique and pure extract and was used diluted 1:2. Adult ticks were exposed to extracts from each plant were used. The variables were weight oviposition, Percent Inhibition of oviposition (% IO) Reproductive Efficiency (ER), Playback Dear (RE), and control rate (%C).
Results: an average weight of the total mass of eggs 225.67mg and 179.33 mg for feverfew (A) and snuff (T) at concentrations 100/0 respectively (p › 0.01); oviposition inhibition of 75% and 69.33% for feverfew and snuff in concentrations 100/0 (p › 0.01); reproductive efficiency of 7.67% (A) and 6.60% (T) for concentration 100/0 (p › 0.01); hatching rate of 60.67% (A) and 61% (T) in 100/0 concentration (p › 0.01) and 77.87 Percent control (A) and 80.17% (T) low concentration 100/0 (p › 0.01).
Conclusions: A. cumanenses extracts in 100% concentration, of 100% N. tabacum and N. tabacum were 50% showed satisfactory results, the percentage being better able to control N. tabacum extract undiluted (80.17%).
