ABSTRACT
Paraneoplasic dermatoses consist of a heterogeneous group of
clinical cutaneous manifestations representing the distant effect
caused by a malignat neoplasm. They represent the second
most common paraneoplastic syndrome. Cutaneous paraneoplasic
dermatoses can present as the first sign of malignancy,
even years before diagnosis of malignant neoplasm, or they can
herald the recurrence. Their correct diagnosis can contribute to
achieve early detection of malignancy and thus a better prognosis.
More than 30 paraneoplastic dermatoses have been described,
and the probability to be associated with a malignancy
can be high, intermediate and low. The top dermatoses that
have been most associated with malignant neoplasm are: paraneoplasic
acroqueratosis, acquired hypertrichosis lanuginosa,
eritema gyratum repens and paraneoplastic pemphigus, which
are described in this article, as well as paraneoplastic icthyosis.
