ABSTRACT
The tuberculosis is an infected contagious illness caused by the Bacillus of Koch (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) known as MTB or Tb. A transversal descriptive study was carried out in 4 polyclinics in Cerro municipality with the aim of verifying if the workers have knowledge about tuberculosis, in order to propose a strategy to cope with this illness and at the same time, complement people´s qualification as a task of the National Program of Prevention and Control of tuberculosis. Thus, a survey was applied to the workers from the Primary Health Care in the 4 polyclinics. The sample was made up by 118 workers and the aspects taking into account were: the workers´ graduation date, work experience, their capacity and performance. The results proved that professional workers represent the 66, 4 % of the health staff with more than 10 years of work experience. The results also showed the difficulties encountered to fulfill the objectives of the National Program of Prevention and Control of Tuberculosis.REFERENCES
