ABSTRACT
Andreas Vesalius (1514-1564), author of the most influential book on anatomy in the history of medicine, is considered the father of anatomy. His major work, De Humani Corporis Fabrica, edited in Basilea in 1543, consists of 869 pages and more than 300 anatomic drawings. It is divided into several books: the first deals with bones; the second, with muscles and joints; the third, with arteries and veins; the fourth, with peripheral nerves; the fifth, with abdomen and reproductive organs; the sixth, with chest and heart; and the seventh book, with the brain. The latter contains 17 great anatomic xylographies. This paper delivers a brief biography of the author and a deep study of the book VII.REFERENCES
