ABSTRACT
Background: In March 2014, a committee of medical publications was established in the Angeles Leon Hospital, with the mission of involving the medical staff in the development of medical manuscripts to be published in medical journals. Its first goal was to develop eight manuscripts a year. Material and methods: The committee’s work consisted of providing advice for style revision and corrections of each manuscript, writing the summary in Spanish and English, checking references, and statistical support. Results: One year after its creation, 18.6% of the physician staff received editorial assessment in the development of 40 scientific manuscripts: 6 about research, 3 about thematic review, 18 clinical case reports, 12 about medical imaging, and 1 manuscript about the history of medicine. The manuscripts were submitted to 8 different scientific publications. Currently 12 papers have been published, 14 manuscripts are in press, and 14 manuscripts are under review by editorial boards. Conclusion: The number of manuscripts produced and the papers published and in press confirm the usefulness of a publications committee.REFERENCES
