ABSTRACT
Frey syndrome (auriculotemporal nerve syndrome) is characterized by episodes of warmth, flushing, and sweating of the face in the preauricular region initiated by gustatory stimulus. Frey syndrome is a common complication after surgery on the parotid gland and temporomandibular joint fracture. The most common hypothesis is that regenerating parasympathetic fibers connect to the sweat glands and subcutaneous blood vessels of the skin. The onset has usually been 10 to 12 months after surgery. The most effective treatment has been subcutaneous infiltration of botulinum toxin into the affected area. A 52-year-old male patient with Frey syndrome arrived to our rehabilitation service, and became the motive of the present report.
