ABSTRACT
The alterations of the complex condyle-disk of the temporomandibular joint can be considered a constant spectrum of progressive disorders. A quasi-experimental study was performed in 48 patients older than 15 years belonging to the Specialty Stomatology Clinic of Bayamo, Granma, from January to July of 2014, with the purpose of evaluating the results of the protocol implementation for the diagnosis and treatment of the complex condyle-disk disorders of the temporomandibular joint. Some variables of interest were evaluated; the statistical analysis was performed to the obtained data. After three months of evolution there was a statistically significant increase in the number of patients without pain (p‹0.05), and a reduction of the amount of patients with restricted mouth opening. The treatment protocol was effective because it was able to reduce pain and to increase the range of mouth opening in more than 70% of patients treated.REFERENCES
