ABSTRACT
Introduction.
Receptor encephalitis Anti -N - methyl -D - aspartate (NMDA ) is an entity recently described as paraneoplastic
syndrome. Initial reports of a syndrome characterized by psychiatric manifestations , seizures
and coma were published in 2005.
Case Presentation.
Female 13 years old, you start to have headache condition and behavioral changes and decreased
consciousness requiring ventilatory support management starting with neuroprotective steroid and
gamma globulin were unsuccessful . During the physical examination dependent mass is palpable right
ovary . Applying serum anti- NMDA being positive right oophorectomy left salpingo + ovarian biopsy
was performed. 7 days postoperative mechanical ventilation is withdrawn, the department of pathology
reports bilateral mature teratoma, second surgery is performed , making left oophorectomy . The patient
evolved toward improvement . Graduated after 3 months of hospital management . Currently
asymptomatic patient without convulsive events , perform normal physical activities without medical
treatment.
Discussion.
In global and national literature the frequency is less than 0.5/100 , 000 per year. The literature mentions
that paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis associated with ovarian teratoma is curable by surgical resection
