ABSTRACT
Objective: characterize the behavior of scientific production about evaluation of university libraries in Scopus and WOS during the period 2003-2014.Methods: analysis of publications was based on unidimensional indicators such as productivity per year, author, language, institutional sector, papers per journal and key words. Content analysis was performed of the content of the papers in the sample.
Results: results allowed characterization of the main features of scientific production in the last decade, including the most productive authors and journals. The study enables definition of the theoretical framework of PhD research, as well as the topics treated, with a view to determining the elements to be included in the evaluation model for the Cuban university library network. The most relevant authors were from academic institutions, mostly American, Spanish and Brazilian. The most productive journals were published in English, but there were some exponents in Spanish and Portuguese. The study revealed stability in the publication of scientific papers about the subject analyzed. The main research lines were revealed: evaluation of resources, collections, services and products, quality management, user satisfaction, and the use of evaluation standards and tools like EFQM, LibQual and ServQual.
Conclusions: the most productive years are the periods 2005-2009 and 2011-2014, which keep the stability in the scientific production. This result can be related to the increase of the evaluative processes in function of the quality management in the university libraries.
