Ritter's disease in a newborn

ABSTRACT
Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome or Ritter's Disease is a severe systemic repercussion skin condition produced by
the exfoliative toxin type A and B from Staphylococcusaureus Phago II. It affects newborns and babies under 5 in both
genders. We present the case of a 22 days old newborn that flares at day 19 of age suddenly with flaking in skin in flaps,
peribuccal area and abdomen. Also, presence of plaques in genital zone and erythema, scaling, broken blisters and
positive nikolsky in her limbs.
