Dear Editor:
An estimated 80% of the world population uses herbal and supplementary medicines. Herbal toxicity due to herbal products is a rare but well-known adverse event. However less is known about the effects of other phytotherapics. Among these is shark liver oil, a popular over-the-counter Asian and Mediterranean folk remedy, which has been in use for over 40 years as both a therapeutic and preventive agent.
