ABSTRACT
The use of platelet-rich plasma growth factors has become increasingly used in various areas of Medicine. Since its origins of use in sports medicine and dental implantology in the mid-1980s, has been progressively expanded its field of application in clinical specialties as diverse as Otorhinolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Dermatology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Neurosurgery, among others. The power of cellular trophism on certain tissues, attributed to growth factors, has made that currently there is talk of a new medical discipline such as regenerative medicine, not only there has been increasingly booming in various medical specialties, but that at the same time has increased exponentially the types of methodology of obtaining as well as the forms of application even for a same pathology. So much so that its currently use has exceeded greatly the scientific capacity to produce evidence for proper clinical application. The objective of this review is to perform an objective vision about what is known as plasma rich in platelet growth factors, more commonly known as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), the most accepted by the scientific production literature methods, as well as the main clinical applications where scientific evidence and those applications has been where, even though they still lack solid scientific basis, are interesting from the clinical and preclinical point of view.
