ABSTRACT
Choroidal melanoma is the
most common malignant
intraocular tumor in adults.
Almost 50% of patients develop
metastatic disease, first becomes
apparent in the liver. The main
clinical features correlating
with increase mortality are
largest basal tumor diameter,
tumor thickness, ciliary body
involvement, and extraocular
spread. Despite advances
in diagnosis and treatment,
the mortality rate has not
changed much in the last 30
years, which requires a greater
understanding of the molecular
behavior of the disease.
