ABSTRACT
The ovary syndrome is a
heterogeneus disorder of
functional androgen excess,
detectable either by laboratory
analysis or by clinical exam,
with ovulatory disfunction
and polycystic ovarian
morphology. Characterized
clinically by oligomenorrhea
and hyperandrogenism, as
well as the frequent presence
of associated risk factors
for cardiovascular disease,
including obesity, glucose
intolerance, and dyslipidemia.
Oral contraceptives are the
mainstay of pharmacology
therapy for women with
this syndrome for managing
hyperandrogenism and
menstrual dysfunction.
