Strategy of methodological training for English professors

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the teaching of English, as a discipline of general training in the careers of Medical Sciences, has evolved for a constant improvement. The training of these professors has to advance to the rhythm of the medical and pedagogical sciences to form a comprehensive professional.Objective: to develop a methodological strategy with the English professors to strengthen the technical vocabulary and the linguistic skills of English for specific purposes at pre-degree and post-degree in Sciences of the Health, and the mastery of pedagogical terms in this language.
Methods: it was used the method of documentary analysis to arrive to conclusions on the literature consulted. Different surveys were applied to identify learning needs on the skills and the use of technical vocabulary related with the medical sciences, to select scientific texts and use of the pedagogical vocabulary in English language. A post-degree course was given for methodological training. The professors were evaluated by means of a comprehensive exam.
Results: the surveys show that the professors lack preparation to select scientific texts, work the linguistic skills in the processes of the English teaching for specific purposes, vocabulary of technical terms of the Medical and Pedagogical Sciences. The results of the comprehensive evaluation were excellent.
Conclusions: the strategy of methodological training aimed at professors to strengthen their technical vocabulary and linguistic skills of the English with specific purposes at pre-degree and post-degree in medical sciences, elevate the mastery of technical terms of the Health Sciences, and those of the pedagogical sciences had excellent results.
