ABSTRACT
The main purpose of the convalescent phase of cardiac rehabilitation is to improve functional capacity and encourage a lifestyle change through all aspects of secondary prevention, mainly a fitness program and the control of cardiovascular risk factors, which favors the social rehabilitation and return to work of patients. In order to update the action protocol for this phase in our hospital, different exercises and their dosages were established, as well as recommendations for the rehabilitation of different populations and controls to be taken into account during physical training session. This protocol will allow the gathering of strategies in order to improve the convalescent phase physical therapy interventions in the National Program of Cardiac Rehabilitation in Cuba.
