Behavior of the acute heart attack in the intensive care unit at Moron Hospital

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The ischemic heart disease is a specific form of myocardial affection caused mainly for inadequacy coronary atherosclerotic, which is produced due to the lost of equilibrium between the requirements of the heart muscle and the coronary flow.
Objective: To evaluate the behavior of patients with acute heart attack in the intensive care service at General Educational Hospital "Capitan Roberto Rodriguez Fernandez".
Method: A longitudinal descriptive prospective and observational study was carried out which included 667 patients with acute heart attack entered in the intensive care service at General Hospital "Capitan Roberto Rodriguez Fernandez" in Moron during 7 years of work (2006-2012).
Results: The clinical form with pain prevailed in 92 % of the patients and the more frequent localization was in the previous face, a 41%. The 61% was classified in Killip I. In 55% the diagnosis was opportune. The thrombolysis was carried out to the 65% of the patients and the main cause of not thrombolysis was late diagnosis.
Conclusions: It was demonstrated that the early therapeutic with fibrinolysis is able to diminish the size of the infarct area, it reduces mortality and improves the prognosis in a short and long term.
