ABSTRACT
A case of a one-month old female infant admitted in the pediatric intensive care unit of “Isla de la Juventud” with the diagnosis of bronchiolitis is presented. After five days of evolutions in the intensive care unit, she acquired an infection associated with medical care by Acinetobacter Sp, and she developed a disseminated intravascular coagulation as a complication. The treatment in this case was difficult because of the Multidrug-Resistant Acinetobacter (MDR-A) infection. Clinically she presented bleeding manifestations and multiple organ dysfunction. The clinic stability of the patient was achieved with a combination of antimicrobial therapy, strict metabolic control and replenishment of depleted blood components. The hospital discharge was at 79 days with the evaluation by a multidisciplinary team. The topic review was carried out as a starting point from a few cases described in the medical literature.REFERENCES
