ABSTRACT
Colon lipomas are rare, usually slow-growing ones. Are benign tumors of non-epithelial origin, the majority are asymptomatic and incidentally detected. If the lipoma has a diameter greater than 2 cm, usually cause symptoms. Diagnosis is obtained by barium enema, computed tomography, endoscopic ultrasound and colonoscopy. Only histopathological examination can provide a definitive diagnosis. The lipomas smaller diameter to 2 cm can be resected endoscopically, in larger lipomas, surgical resection is recommended. We report the case of a lipoma in the transverse colon, which caused intestinal occlusion, and it was managed with surgical treatment.
