ABSTRACT
Carotid body tumors are infrequent, slow-growing, hypervascularised neoplasias. It has been reported that they account for about 0.03% of all tumors of the body and 0.6% of head and neck tumors. We present the case of a 48 years old, female patient referred to Endocrinology Service diagnosed as endemic goiter and headache. Study protocol included two imaging techniques that clearly allowed the identification and diagnosis. Clinical-image diagnostic protocol used in this patient clearly helped to classify the tumor, and allowed to select its better surgical approach.
