ABSTRACT
Introduction: The infections related with the medical attendance (IRAM) also called
infections associated with the sanitary attendance contribute significantly to the morbility
and hospital mortality, as well as the excessive cost of the hospitalized patients.
Objective: Characterizing the pattern of clinical-epidemic behavior of the infections
related with the medical attendance in the therapy of the Hospital "William Soler."
Method: Descriptive, retrospective and transverse study in 55 admitted patients in such
service in a period of two years (2010-2011). the data were processed with the Epidat
3.1 program summarizing the data by means of percentages and it was preset a level
of= 0.05 for the significant associations.
Results: An incidence of 3.8 for each 100
discharged patients was reported We found significant association in the variables:
Prevalence of the masculine sex (p= 0.0076, Z= 2.6697), stay among the groups of
more than 10 days and 10 days and less (p= 0.0000, Z= 6.5008), use of the politherapy
versus. monotherapy (p= 0,0000, Z= 0.0091) and pneumonia with state to the discharge
(p= 0.0032).
Conclusions: in spite of the lower incidence of infections associated with
the sanitary cares found in our study, these infections constitute a true problem of health
for the patient, the relatives and the system of health.
