ABSTRACT
Darier-White disease is a dermatosis that was first reported in 1889, it is transmitted in an autosomic
dominant fashion and is characterized by hyperkeratotic papules localized mainly at seborrheic regions
as well as ungueal abnormalities. It commonly begins between the first and the second decades of life.
Its diagnosis is made by its clinical and histopathological unique features and its treatment is chiefly based on
oral retinoids such as isotretinoin. The most important morbidities of Darier disease are the psychosocial consequences
of their physical appearance and the chronicity of the disease. Its prevalence varies around the world
being more present at some European countries in contrast to Latin-American ones. In Mexico it is a rare condition
that is sometimes underdiagnosed; that is our reason for making this revision with the aim of knowing
Darier’s more common features in order to make an earlier diagnosis and therefore avoid possible complications
and repercussions in the life quality of the patients with Darier’s disease.
