ABSTRACT
Insulinomas are the most
common pancreatic endocrine
tumors. These are derived from
the beta cells of the pancreatic
islets and its incidence is rare.
90% of the cases are solitary,
sporadic and benign with
location evenly distributed
throughout the pancreas. Its
diagnosis is associated with the
Whipple triad and its associated
with an autonomic secretion
of insulin which produces a
deep fast hypoglycemia with
neuroglicopenic symptoms. The
both prequirurgical studies
are the tomograpic scan and
endoscopic ultrasound which
can ubicate approximately 100% of tumors. The treatment
of choice is surgery which
allows to obtain high rates of
curation and a better long term
survival.
