Training strategy in the English language for linguistic proficiency in health professionals

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the scientific and technological development in medical science requires a highly qualified professional in the mastery of basic skills of the English language. Postgraduate education has been working in this area, but there are professionals who need it to meet collaborations in Anglophone countries.Objective: raise the linguistic proficiency in the English language in health professionals.
Methods: the method of documentary analysis and analysis and synthesis was used to reach to conclusions about the literature consulted. Pedagogical input and an output tests were applied to the participants of each course to check the initial and final state of them and a survey was applied to them to determine the level of satisfaction with respect to the courses received.
Results: from 50 participants registered in the three courses: basic, intermediate and technician, 49 were highly satisfied and only 1 was dissatisfied. With respect to the results of the evaluation, in the pedagogical input test results were: 7 participants evaluated as excellent, 13 good, 20 regular and 10 bad, which contrasts with the pedagogical output test where 40 participants obtained an excellent rating, 8 good, 1 regular and 1 bad, so that the results of the experience were very good.
Conclusions: most of the evaluated course participants approved with high quality grades so the linguistic proficiency increased in Medical Sciences professionals.
