ABSTRACT
The calf as an aesthetic area has its own classification and surgical approaches and many techniques were inspired in the resolutions of war wounds. This paper aims to present the vertical fasciotomy technique as a treatment for the hypotrophy of the calf.
The surgical technique is ambulatory, under tumescent local anesthesia, based in a double longitudinal section of the gastrocnemius fascia, with four small incisions of 0.5 cm long.
In our casuistic of 42 patients the results where satisfactory with minimal complications and in all cases it the final result depended on the muscular hypertrophy due to training and exercise.
