ABSTRACT
The general principles of uniformity requirements for medical manuscripts according to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) are reviewed. Recommendations, based on several didactic publications and the experience of the authors, are made to facilitate the fulfillment of each chapter; in some sections examples are given and they end by taking note of the «checklist» of the CONSORT group, a very useful list for clinical research reports. Uniformity requirements, dictated by the ICMJE and the recommendations made in this paper will help authors prepare manuscripts of the papers in a simpler and orderly way, providing a guide for complying with requirements, and thus increasing the chance of being accepted in a medical journal.
