ABSTRACT
Leishmaniasis is a zoonosis caused by
Leishmania parasites. The
clinical forms are cutaneous, diffuse cutaneous, mucocutaneous,
and visceral. We report a 33 year-old male patient from Nicaragua,
with scattered nodular lesions. Biopsy showed a dense
infiltration of lymphocytes and numerous histiocytes with cytoplasmic
vacuoles and amastigotes. Treatment with glucantime,
20 mg/kg/day administered intravenously infusion for 20 consecutive
days, only with a partial response.
