The training of community organizers is a timely and important topic, especially in the context of a process of updating the economic model of the country and stimulating the initiative of the territories in conducting local projects to promote sustainable social development, not just economic. However, the formative experiences are still insufficient. The potential of community for the prevention of drug addiction, the need for education for the better performance of this work and functions inherent to social work, support the research project developed and grounded in epistemology and qualitative methodology.
Its overall objective was to contribute to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the process of community drug prevention that takes place in each municipality, through the formation of a group of social workers from different provinces.
The techniques used were the problem tree; key informant interview, the SWOT matrix, participatory presentation skills, problem analysis, case studies, consensus building and evaluation. The learning experience was developed through workshops-course mode.
The main research findings were: a diagnosis of learning needs and the institutional context, the methodological design workshop-course, the implementation and evaluation of the training process of community prevention managers, preparing a CD with content areas addressed, further reading and the development of a book on community drug prevention.
