ABSTRACT

The problem of drug dependence and its implications as a health problem, has achieved in recent years a special significance far beyond the limits of health and into other areas such as social, political, economic and others, related to the evolution of mankind. In the addicted patient start to show some cognitive changes due to the use and abuse of these substances. Changes that often are not perceived as resulting from addiction.
Therefore, we decided to study describing the operation of cognitive processes in a group of patients addicted to illicit drugs. A qualitative methodological perspective in a group of multiple cases applied was used. Main results obtained in our group prevailed patients addicted to crack cocaine and psychotropic drugs. In psychological testing patients given rate of organicity were addicted to cocaine. The most affected cognitive memory process were crack addicts. The entire sample has equal involvement level of thought and all patients studied showed equal attention deficit.
