ABSTRACT
The myxomas are the most frequent primary tumors of the heart, most of them are curable and their diagnosis requires a high clinical suspicion index. The authors present the case of a 44 years-old woman with 2 years of progressive dyspnea, peripheral edema and syncope, with a changing murmur on pulmonary focus, and with unspecific anomalies in the 12 lead electrocardiogram and the X-ray chest film. Characteristics of the murmur lead to suspect an intracardiac tumor that its existence was confirmed by means of transthoracic echocardiogram and thoracic computed axial tomography. The patient was successfully treated by means of surgical excision of the tumor, and evolved favorably with complete symptom resolution. The histopathologic analysis revealed that the tumor was a myxomaREFERENCES
