ABSTRACT
Short term survival in Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage. The survival of 123 patients which formed the cohort for analysis with a diagnosis of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (SICH) was prospectively evaluated. The aim of the present study was to determine the short term survival and predictors of death in patients with SICH in Carlos Manuel de Céspedes hospital, survival was measured in days; survival prediction factors were determined by Cox regression. Seventy-five men (age mean 65, 01 years) and 48 women (age mean 64, 60 years); 54 patients (43, 9%) died within the first 30 days. On admission, significant independent predictors of survival within the first 30 days were Glasgow Coma Scale score (p= 0,000), lateral shift of cerebral midline structures (p= 0,000), Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) (p= 0,009), Respiratory infection at admission (p= 0,010) and Respiratory arrhythmia (p= 0,035). A receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) was plotted to Cox model for predicting survival; the area under the ROC curve was 0,909 (95% CI; 0,854 - 0,965; p=0,000). We conclude that with the values obtained by adjustment of the pattern it could be considered the short term survival in these patients.
